Gwyneth Paltrow Biography:

Gwyneth Kate Paltrow is a delicate, waifer thin beauty. She is a consummate professional and a highly skilled actress who appears to possess everything necessary to achieve super stardom. She was born in Los Angeles, California on September 28th, 1973 into a family that is no stranger to the entertainment business. Her mother is the award-winning actress Blythe Danner and her father is Bruce Paltrow, a successful producer with programs such as "St. Elsewhere" and "The While Shadow."

Gwyneth and younger brother, Jake, spent most of their childhood in the city of angels but moved to New York City when she was 11. She later enrolled at the Spence School where she graduated. She then returned to the west coast to enroll at the University of California in Santa Barbara to study Art History, but she realized that she lacked the commitment to her studies and withdrew.

Although her father encouraged her to go back to school, Gwyneth decided to pursue a career in acting which began with a moving performance in the Williamstown Theater production of "Picnic" where she starred alongside her mother. Her first audition landed her debut into film in 1991’s "Shout" with John Travolta. Then she had a chance meeting with Steven Spielberg which resulted in the role of "Young Wendy" in "Hook". But it wasn’t until her remarkable performance in "Flesh & Bone" in 1993 that really launched her career.

In 1995 she was cast opposite Brad Pitt in "Seven". The pair started a highly publicized romantic relationship off stage that made Gwyneth well known through her wildly famous lover. Emerging quickly from her boyfriend’s shadow, she accepted roles in "Moonlight & Valentino" and "The Pall Bearer," along with an astounding performance in "Emma." The couple eventually were engaged but in 1997 mutually agreed to break off their 2 ½ year affair.

Her most famous role to date is that of Viola in "Shakespeare in Love" (1998). Her brilliant performance and mastering of the English accent earned Gwyneth the Oscar for Best Actress. Gwyneth followed up her Oscar winning performance with a roll in 1999’s The Talented Mr. Ripley. In 2000 she appeared in two movies, Bounce, with on-again off-again boyfriend Ben Affleck, and Duets, a movie about karaoke fanatics directed by Gwyneth’s father, Bruce Paltrow. In 2001 she appeared in The Royal Tenebaums, in a large cast of talented actors, including current boyfriend Luke Wilson. That year she also donned a fat suit to play 300+ pound Rosemary in comedy Shallow Hal, also starring Jack Black.

In 2002 Gwyneth starred in the romantic sleuth movie Possession with Aaron Eckhart. This year she will also be playing a flight attendant in A View From the Top.
